Oceanco hosts Art, Sculpture & Yachting Event May 2018 @ Monaco Principality Offices NYC

In May 2018, Oceanco hosted a thought-provoking panel discussion centered on art, sculpture and yachting. VC500 produced the event  at the office of the Principality of Monaco on Fifth Avenue in Midtown Manhattan. A gathering of 50 guests, with very diverse backgrounds and interests, from yacht owners, to investment professionals to founders of artificial intelligence start-ups, came together to discover the relationship between art and design, art finance and the legal ramifications of maintaining art onboard yachts. Ed Roberts, US representative of Oceanco, acted as moderator on a variety of art-related topics. The panelists included curator and global gallery owner, Sundaram Tagore, on art acquisition, Terri Sultan, art historian and Director

of the Parrish Art Museum in the Water Mill, NY, on deaccession, Mike Fontenetta, from US Trust on financing art, and John Leonida, global superyacht attorney from Clyde and Co, on the legal issues of having art aboard your yacht.

Sculptor Master Chen onboard Award-Winning Oceanco's M/Y Barbara

Oceanco's M/Y Barbara won top honors at the 2018 Boat International Design & Innovation Awards gala that took place in Kitzbühel, Austria on the 28th of January. Jubilee won "Best Exterior Styling for Motor Yachts over 45m and above." Barbara won the Judges' Commendation Award for Best Interior Design for Motor Yachts 1,000GT and above. The Judges' Commendation accolade for Barbara's Interior was for the ornamental element in the central stair column, whereby the glass elevator shaft was wrapped in a beautiful gnarled silvered root system of an ancient tree rising continuously through two decks, created by Artist and Sculptor Master Chen. The judges complimented both the visuals and the execution of this work of art which took a full year to complete, and further noted how well this decorative component adhered to the owner's design brief: "no straight lines." Sam Sorgiovanni, interior and exterior designer of Barbara, went on stage with Paris Baloumis, to accept the honors.
